Opening night for Avonworth's musical, “Beauty and the Beast” was met with enthusiastic applause for the cast, but after the performers took their bows, there was one more round of applause awaiting as superintendent Thomas Ralston stepped on stage to address the audience.

Standing in the wings, stage right, show director Deborah Frauenholz, who usually has tabs on everything happening onstage, backstage and in the audience, had no idea what was going on, but she answered Ralston's summons to the spotlight. "For 20 years, Avonworth High School students have graced our stage with memorable performances that have truly mesmerized our audiences,” Ralston said. “The one constant during that time has been Mrs. Deborah Frauenholz, who has produced and directed our musical program. Our drama program has flourished because of her dedication, commitment, and leadership."

A small token of appreciation, a quick hug, and another round of applause, cast enthusiastically joining in, to show appreciation for their director, a.k.a,, The Frau.
