Budget approved

Bellevue Council unanimously voted to approve the 2013 borough budget, despite some last minute "concerns" expressed by the mayor.

Mayor George Doscher told council at Tuesday's regular meeting that he had e-mailed his concerns to everyone, but could not recall what all of them were at the moment. Among them, however, he said, were the lack of a new police car in the budget, the reduction of police overtime, and $2,000 budgeted for the new dog park.

Council member Jim Scisciani said that the allocation for the dog park was included at his suggestion, but that he agreed with the mayor about the borough needing to replace a police car and make sure there was enough money in the budget for officer overtime. He noted that overtime could be needed for court appearances by officers, but council president Linda Woshner clarified that the budget included a separate line item for court time that had not been reduced.

The property tax millage rate will be set and adopted at a special meeting on Jan. 22.
