Barron scores 1,000th

Darrell Barron is a senior guard on Northgate's basketball team this year, and Friday night, he achieved a major milestone when he scored his 1,000th career point.

Barron scored his 1,000th point in the third quarter of the game against Freedom, and finished the night with a career 1,004 points, with five games left to be played. Adding to this accomplishment is the fact that he did it in just three years, beginning his sophomore year.

Averaging 25 points a game, Barron is a 6'1” guard who plays big for his size. He can be found posting-up with the centers from opposing teams, or running the point. Barron is a true leader, and the consummate team player, leading the team in assists.

When asked about his feelings on achieving the 1,000 point marker, Barron said, "I feel excited about it. It's something I wanted to get to. It's not something I was trying to rush, but it's a milestone I wanted to get."

Barron plans on playing basketball in college, and some small colleges have shown an interest. Barron said he would like to use basketball as a gateway into college.
