On Jan. 20, a resident of Harrison Avenue reported that her friend stole her rental car outside her residence. The vehicle was returned by an unknown male.

Avalon Police officers responded to motor vehicle accident on Park Avenue on Jan. 20. No one was injured, police say.

On Jan. 21, officers were called to a Marie Avenue residence for a report of a broken rear window on a jeep. It was determined that the window may have been broken by a rock from spinning tires while a vehicle was stuck on a patch of ice.

On Jan. 23, Avalon Police officers responded to California Avenue for a report of a large steel post in the middle of street. The steel post was part of borough property and was originally positioned on the corner of California and Birmingham avenues. It is believed to have been stuck by a Republic Waste Trash Service vehicle, then pushed into street where another vehicle hit it and it rolled down South Birmingham toward Taylor Avenue.

Thomas Messineo, 54, of Avalon, was arrested on Jan. 24 for terroristic threats as well as harassment.

Kevin Tansley, 32, of Pittsburgh, was arrested on Jan. 24 for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

On Jan. 25, a motor vehicle accident occurred at Ohio River Boulevard and Elizabeth Avenue. Police say both occupants of one vehicle were transported to Allegheny General Hospital and that both vehicles were towed from the scene.

William Watson, 26, of Pittsburgh, was arrested on Jan. 27 for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Andrew Bistrican, 55, of Bellevue, was arrested on Jan. 27 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Regina Jackson, 33, of McKees Rocks, was arrested on Jan. 27 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Ireland McGrew Jr., 44, of Youngstown, OH, was arrested on Jan. 27 for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
