All-State QBs chosen

The Pennsylvania Football Writers all-state teams were released last week, with two local players being selected in their respective classifications.

Avonworth senior quarterback Derek Johncour was chosen in class 2A after throwing for 2,420 yards and 23 touchdowns in the regular season while leading his team to a WPIAL playoff berth. Derek was coached by his father Duke, who just completed his eighth season as the head coach at Avonworth.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart senior quarterback Tyler Bradley was picked in class 1A after passing for 2,669 yards and 34 TDs in the regular season and going on to finish with 3,366 yards and 45 touchdowns while capturing a WPIAL championship. Tyler was coached by his father Dan, who just completed his third season as the head coach at OLSH but is currently in his 10th year as the head coach of the Avonworth boys’ basketball team.
